Here’s a simple, reflective song I wrote in college and recorded in 2006. A friend was asking about it as she was reflecting on Good Friday, so I thought I’d share it.
Lyrics:
I heard a rose someday would be
Lit for a world unwilling to see
He bloomed with no thorns, with one simple plea
To take from him all that’s free
The thorns soon arose, they could have been free
They choked him with hatred and killed him with glee
Who’d hang a rose with nails on a tree
Those thorns like you and like me
I know a rose and he knows me
Someday that rose will be all I can see
Tender and bold; beautiful to see
That rose is enough for me
That rose is enough for me
That he rose is enough for me
